Ottawa-based FreeBalance has signed a $1.6 million contract to deliver a financial
management and accounting system to the Ministry of Finance in Guyana.
The Ministry will use FreeBalance eFinancials to manage public sector budgets,
appropriations, revenues, purchasing, and assets. The company will also provide
ongoing consulting, implementation, integration and training services for the
duration of the contract.
The Government of Guyana was able to undertake the project with the financial
support of the federal government through the Canadian International Development
Agency (CIDA). "Guyana represents a tremendous and exciting opportunity for
FreeBalance and we are pleased to be playing such a vital role in this important
international project," said Michael McTaggart, vice president of operations
at FreeBalance. "We intend to work closely with our in-country partners to
ensure a smooth deployment and to take advantage of the experience we gained working
on similar projects in Kosovo, East Timor, and Afghanistan."
