Carrier Wi-Fi Growth and Small Cell Innovations Earn BelAir Networks #1 Market Share in Service Provider Wi-Fi
As market grows almost 30%, direct supply relationships with Tier 1 Mobile Carriers and Cable Operators yields winning results for BelAir Networks
Ottawa, ON — Tuesday, February 22, 2011 – With Tier 1 carriers worldwide witnessing mobile data growth of 7 - 30X over the last 3 years, the integration of Wi-Fi technology (also known as wireless LAN or WLAN) to offload data in carrier networks continues to gain traction. The Service Provider WLAN market increased almost 30% in 2010 with BelAir Networks retaining #1 market share according to the Dell’Oro Q4 2010 WLAN Report. The ongoing popularity of Wi-Fi is reflected in chipset shipments expected to hit more than a billion units per year by 2012, according to recent forecasts from industry research firms, In-Stat and IHS iSuppli.
“Tier One carriers are deploying BelAir Networks Wi-Fi in city hotzones, large venues, special events and retail chains with the goal of delivering a great user experience in a cost-effective and sustainable way, and now they’re trialing our small cell solutions for the same reason,” said Bernard Herscovich, President and CEO, BelAir Networks. “From network planning to back office integration, working directly with these leading operators has driven innovations across our product portfolio including unique ‘virtual AP’ capabilities, edge based security and policy management, seamless mobility, switched mesh backhaul and our patented strand-mount architecture.”
