Financing Solutions that Fit

SAN DIEGO, California -- Zucotto Wireless Inc., the world leader in merging wireless connectivity with Java™ technology to create unique semiconductor-based solutions, today announced that it has secured $35 million in its second round of financing. Led by Shelter Capital Partners and Baker Capital Corp., the round also included investments from Brightspark Ventures, MM Venture Partners, and Royal Bank Capital.

"We are fortunate to have partnered with top-tier investors from the United States and Canada who will help us achieve our goals and strengthen our industry leadership position,” said Leigh J. Price, Chief Financial Officer for Zucotto Wireless. “The fact that these companies are investing in Zucotto demonstrates their vision and commitment to developing cutting-edge technologies."

"We are extremely excited about Zucotto’s prospects as the industry leader in semiconductor Java and Bluetooth™ solutions for the wireless and embedded markets,” said David Kaplan, Senior Principal at Shelter Capital Partners, LLC. “Zucotto fits perfectly within our firm’s focus of identifying companies with industry-leading technology in rapidly growing markets."

"Zucotto’s Xpresso Java native processor is a key enabling technology for wireless data,” said Ashley Leeds, partner at Baker Capital Corp. “The company is the leader in its field and its products have an enormous addressable market in mobile phones, PDAs, and other devices."

The latest funding will be used to complete the development of Zucotto’s Xpresso™ Java native processors and accelerate their introduction to the market. The processors, including the X110 microcontroller and the X120 feature processor, offer best-of-class Java performance while consuming minimal power. Value-added extensions for the processors, such as Bluetooth personal networking, reduce cost and time to market, and legacy-friendly integration ensures the investment in the existing code base is preserved.
